The meeting at Lake Constance has now taken place, and the IG members have approved the establishment of a support association that will take over the formal responsibilities of IG syncro 16".
At the annual meeting in Allensbach in 2025, IG16—an informal and non-binding association of Syncro drivers that has existed since 1993—resolved to establish a registered association. The objective was to provide a formal legal framework for the group’s joint activities, which until then had been organized by individuals on a personal basis and at their own risk.

At IG syncro 16", there are basically two different types of registration. One is registration for the forum, and the other is registration as a member of the syncro 16" interest group.
Registration for the Syncro Forum
Registration in the forum is (only) required in order to have posting rights in the Syncro Forum, to be able to read all subforums, and to clearly distinguish all active users from one another. This registration has nothing to do with membership in IG syncro 16".
In the early days of the “IG16”, the few members met at gatherings organized by individual members in order to exchange ideas in person rather than only by telephone and, later on, via the Internet. As the number of members increased, the first “IG16” regulars’ table (Stammtisch) was founded in Munich in 1997, because there were now enough members in that region who wanted to meet regularly in person.
In the early 1990s, Anton Mertens (seen on the right during morning exercises) took the initiative and first brought together the owners of syncro 16" vehicles in the north and northwest of Germany. Over the years, the community has grown to around 240 members from all over Germany and neighboring countries. Among the members, a network has developed in which people help each other with expertise and experience.
